What Are Cookies, Plain and Simple
Cookies are tiny text files your browser stores when you visit a website. Think of them like a little name tag at a barn dance - they help us remember who you are when you come back, so you don't have to log in twice or set your preferences over and over.
Cookies don't carry viruses, can't read other files on your computer, and can't do chores around the farm (we wish). They only contain small pieces of information that help websites remember you and work the way you'd expect.
Along with cookies, we may use similar technologies - local storage, session storage, and pixel tags - that work in much the same way. When this policy says "cookies," it covers all of them.
Types of Cookies We Use
We use three plain types of cookies on MuchDating. Here's what each one does in honest terms.
We do not use cookies to sell your data to advertisers, build cross-site tracking profiles, or share your dating activity with anyone outside the services listed below.
Third-Party Cookies
A few trusted services help us run MuchDating, and they may set their own cookies when you visit. We pick partners carefully and only those that meet plain U.S. privacy standards.
- Google Analytics - anonymous traffic and usage analytics so we can improve the farmers dating experience.
- Cloudflare - security, bot protection, and faster page loads (especially handy on rural broadband).
- Stripe - secure processing of premium membership payments. Stripe sets cookies only on payment pages.
- Hotjar (occasional) - anonymous heatmaps to see where folks tap on mobile so we can fix awkward layouts.
- Embedded media - if we embed a video or map, the provider (e.g. YouTube, Google Maps) may set its own cookies.
Each of these third parties has its own privacy and cookie policy. If you want to dig deeper into any of them, their websites publish full details.
How to Manage Cookies in Your Browser
You're in the driver's seat. Every modern browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies. Heads up - if you block essential cookies, parts of MuchDating may stop working, including login.

- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Apple Safari (Mac): Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. On mobile, both iOS and Android offer device-level controls under their privacy settings.
